September is Hunger Action Month and the Palm Beach County Food Bank (PBCFB) is launching several initiatives to combat food insecurity in our community.
Now through Sept. 23, local radio station WayFM is hosting its “World’s Biggest Food Drive” to benefit local food banks, including the PBCFB. Every dollar donated will provide five meals to local children, families and seniors. To make a donation, click here.
Then, on Sept. 16, the PBCFB is celebrating Hunger Action Day by partnering with the Kravis Center and Lessing’s Hospitality Group for Pack to Give Back: Day of 200,000 Meals. Volunteers will package pasta meals that will feed families of up to six. The initiative will be hosted at the Gimelstob Ballroom in the Cohen Pavilion at the Kravis Center. Three volunteer shifts slots are available from 9 to 11:30 a.m., 12 to 2:30 p.m., and 3 to 5 p.m. Volunteers will receive a complimentary T-shirt. To reserve a shift, click here.
The PBCFB will also have a table at Stormhouse Brewing’s Oktoberfest celebration on Sept. 20 and 21 where guests can drop off food or fund donations between 5 to 8 p.m. while enjoying German fare and craft brews.
The PBCFB’s Hunger Action Month initiatives will benefit the nearly 200,000 Palm Beach County residents experiencing hunger. For more information and to get involved, click here.
