Local bakers will have the chance to show off their confections at the Very Berry Bake-off on Sept. 27 at the Delray Beach Public Library.

The friendly competition invites home chefs to whip up their choice of baked goods—from pies, bars, cakes, to crumbles, muffins, scones, and more—as long as they include berries. Entries will be judged by a panel that includes City Oyster chef Jordan Stilley, Delray Beach Historical Society Executive Director Winnie Edwards, Delray Beach Library Board President Joycelyn Patrick and local Realtor Christina Morrison. First place and second place winners will receive a $100 and $50 City Oyster gift card, respectively.

The event is free to the public and attendees will get to sample the goods and vote for who will win the People’s Choice Award that includes a gift basket from the Delray Beach Historical Society. The bake-off will also include a live cooking demo by a chef from local nonprofit Space of Mind, giveaways, and food samples.

Bakers must register by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 to join the competition. Registration costs $10 and can be done here. This year’s bake-off is sponsored by Christina 4 Delray and CDF Carousel Development and Restoration.
