We sat down with creative director Drew McConnell to chat about what makes Barcelona Wine Bar special.

For starters, it has more than 20 nationwide outposts, but there are several dishes on the menu that are unique to Delray Beach, like its roasted carrots with spiced labneh, braised cabbage and tuna crudo. The concept is focused on honoring Spanish tapas culture with traditional dishes like tortillas, patatas bravas, boquerones, gambas al ajillo, pulpo and paella, but for executive chef Javier Narvaez, his ingredients’ seasonality is equally as important.

Its wine list is also something to look forward to. With an emphasis on lesser-known regions and wines produced by family-run wineries, its menu features 49 wines by the glass. Yes, that’s correct, by the glass. Now, that’s impressive. Don’t worry, if you’re looking for bottle service, there are more than 400 to choose from. Plus, on Mondays you can really explore the menu with half-off bottles.

Inspired by the sherry bodegas in Jerez, Spain, Barcelona Wine Bar exudes a welcoming lively atmosphere. “In a hurried world that’s increasingly online, we want to be a place to unplug, connect and come together. Not unlike the bustling restaurants and cafes dotting the streets of Spain and the Mediterranean coastline,” said McConnell.

Look forward to weekend brunch launching soon with dishes like olive oil pancakes and serrano ham benedict. Happy hour will also debut with a selection of tapas and 50% off sherries and sparkling wine bottles.
