Yes, there actually is an International Saké Day, and Buddha Sky Bar (217 E. Atlantic Ave., 561/266-9898) is celebrating it.
On Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to 11 p.m., the view-rich Delray Asian bar-café will have a saké specialist on hand to reveal the secrets of Japanese rice wine, as well as offer complimentary tastings and sushi, and a menu of $6 sakés. And from 7 to 9 p.m. they be passing out a dessert called Kakigori, a mélange of Fuji apple saké with mango foam, banana ice cream, pineapple, strawberries and cardamom coconut milk.
If you miss the Wednesday bash, the $6 sake menu will be available until Saturday, Oct. 1, the day dubbed “Saké no Hi” to commemorate the first day of saké production in Japan.
