Yes, that was J-Lo you saw slipping into the new Philippe (200 E. Palmetto Park Rd., 561/393-4666) in Boca the other night.
Apparently the swanky New York-style Chinese restaurant has already become quite the draw for slumming celebs, with Manalapan resident (and former boxing mogul) Don King, star athletes Alonzo Mourning and Jimmy Connors and—coming soon—actor John Stamos and the Beach Boys, all chowing down on chef-owner Philippe Chow’s signature high-end Chinese cookery.
On a side note, Philippe will be open Thanksgiving Day, dishing up a restaurant specialty—Peking turkey. No details on that yet, but if it’s done like the traditional Peking duck it involves a complicated process of separating the skin from the meat (typically using a bicycle pump), air-drying, basting and roasting in different positions at different temperatures. Sounds like it could be pretty interesting.
