With the FIFA World Cup 2026 just two weeks away, the Curaçao men’s national team will soon be on its way to Florida Atlantic University (FAU), the team’s official training site in the U.S.

“The selection is a testament, not only to our incredible facilities, but the world-class destination that Boca Raton has become,” said FAU Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White in a press release. “Boca is a soccer-rich community, and FAU’s history of championship success in the sport is deep-rooted under the leadership of women’s head coach Patrick Baker and men’s head coach Joey Worthen.”

Curaçao is making its FIFA World Cup debut this year and making history as the smallest nation by population (156,000) and land mass (171 square miles) to ever qualify for the competition.

“Hosting a World Cup team is an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to sharing the energy and spirit of our campus and South Florida community with Curaçao’s players and fans this summer,” said FAU President Adam Hasner in a press release. “This is a unique chance to experience World Cup soccer firsthand while showcasing Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, and Palm Beach County on a global stage.”

The team will also host a free community training session on Thursday, June 11 at the Owls’ on-campus football stadium. This marks the team’s only scheduled public session during its time in Boca Raton. To participate, RSVP here.

Curaçao is not the only FIFA team training in the Palm Beach area. Portugal, the No. 5 team in FIFA’s rankings, will train at the Gardens North County District Park in Palm Beach Gardens.

Curaçao begins their world cup participation on June 14 in a match against Germany in Houston.
