Here’s your chance to get fit for the new year. As part of its parent company’s “Commitment Day,” Life Time Athletic in Boca Raton (1499 Yamato Road, 561/208-5900) will host a 5K run/walk in Boca Raton on Jan. 1, 2013.

Here’s the best part: Those who sign up for the 5K run/walk by the third week in November will receive free training in preparation for the race. Not an experienced runner? Not a member at the fitness center? No problem either way.

Sign up for the 5K at commitmentday.com and use this code—CORP0598—to save $5 on registration. The cost (without the code) is $34 for Life Time members; $39 for nonmembers. Kids 18 and under run for free with a paid adult. According to the corporate site, the free training program is valued at $75.

According to Life Time personal trainer Latty Hawkes, “We have eight run classes a week that [participants] can attend. Our coaches are certified and well-known runners in Florida.”

Training sessions include coach-led group workouts on treadmills, outdoor fun runs, hill training and track workouts.
