School starts right around the corner—where did the summer go?—and to help children who can’t afford school supplies, try this idea on for size: donate back-to-school items and receive 10 percent off in some stores and restaurants.
“Give Back, Get Back” is a drive cooked up by the PGA Commons businesses, and it should be copied across the county!
Starting today and continuing through Aug. 5, bring new, unopened supplies and you’ll save some money on a purchase made the same day in these places: Vic & Angelo’s, Prosecco Café, Menchie’s (pictured), The Tux Shop, Bamboo Clothiers, T is for Table, New Beginnings, Onessimo Fine Art and Studio E Gallery.
Supplies needed include: glue sticks, boxed tissues, washable markers, crayons, construction paper, tempera and watercolor paints, paintbrushes, child safety scissors, pipe cleaners, No. 2 pencils, colored pencils and sharpeners, notebook paper, spiral notebooks, hand sanitizer, erasers, highlighters, backpacks, rulers and more.
The supplies will be donated to Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center, the county’s oldest children’s charity (since 1939) and provides educational programs for under-resourced children.
