I am happy to report back after a great weekend—highlighted by Tim Snow and the George Snow Scholarship Fund’s great Cowboy Ball—the 19th one—and destined for many more years of success. This is such a fun party and the mood is so lighthearted—everyone heehawing in cowboy boots, hats and tropical shirts.
Some cowgals and cowboys wore matching outfits and managed to look cool, like Bonny and Bill Smith (our former mayor). Others were just “Dallas” meets Haeaii-5-0.” The fireworks signaling the end of the silent auction and the cocktail hour were spectacular and the setting on the Intracoastal in Red Reef Park is Boca at its best.
It was a really magical night for Honorary Chairs Laura and Skip Stoltz, longtime Boca champions. Robin and Charles Deyo received the Community Service award for their contributions to our community and its important institutions, like the YMCA for Charles and the Junior League for Robin, among many others. The Boca Raton Regional Hospital received the Corporate Community Service Award.
In 2011, the George Snow Fund awarded more than $433,000 to deserving scholars in our community. This is a powerful commitment to our deserving young people who want to realize their ambitions for a continuing education. Everyone who contributes to this fund is really giving to our most important resource: our youngsters, the best and the brightest.
This is why the Cowboy Ball continues to be the enormous fun party that it is—because volunteers, sponsors and donors all recognize the enormous contribution the Snow fund makes to the young people it serves. So while the mood of the ball is fun and a little wacky the reason for the ball is serious and meaningful: educating the leaders of tomorrow.
