The owners of a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible traced the history of their vehicle across Europe before it got to them in Austria. As it turns out, there was a stop in Boca Raton before it crossed the pond.
Patricia Sieber bought the Oldsmobile, which she named “Olsi,” in 2017. She has spent the past nine years restoring Olsi to its former glory, all the while tracing its owners across Austria and Germany. During her restoration, she discovered a curious artifact—a City of Boca Raton resident beach parking permit that expired in 1979.
“When I bought the car from an acquaintance, I had no idea what kind of story might be hidden behind this convertible,” she said.
Naturally, Sieber had to unearth this hidden chapter of Olsi’s history. Over the weekend, she reached out to Boca magazine with images of the car, hoping that someone could help make the connection to its local owner. Now, we’re putting it to our readers. “He has traveled a long way—from America to Europe and eventually to me. I have given him a new life, and in the years since, I have created my own memories with him. Every drive, every trip and every special moment adds another chapter to his life,” Sieber said. “But somewhere between Boca Raton in 1979 and his later years in Germany and Austria, there is still a story I don’t know.”
