This week three years ago I was counting down in my head the number of days (10) and hours (225) before the Big Night, the one where I’d find myself standing in front of 750 people in a ballroom the size of Rhode Island getting ready to dance to the fastest show tune ever composed by man. I recall telling myself quite seriously that I could easily lose 30 pounds by then; at three pounds a day, it was entirely doable. And my routine would become second nature, I’d look wonderful, and the “Dancing With The Stars” judge would hand me a bouquet of roses.
In other words, I was terrified. And delusional.
That happy job falls to others this year as eight brave souls make the final preparations for the Ninth Annual Boca Ballroom Battle Friday, August 20, at the Boca Resort. This is one of the best and most fun events of the year—and the highlight of the summer—and all proceeds benefit the beloved George Snow Scholarship Fund. Tickets sell out every year but there are a few left so best to snag them now while you can.
