In the annals of clever marketing ploys, few are better than Beaujolais Nouveau Day, the third Thursday in November when the first Beaujolais wines are raced from their producers’ to markets worldwide. Though serious cork dorks would probably rather drink beer than this simple, light, fruity wine with a vintage of, uh. . . last week, for the rest of us it’s a fun, refreshing, easy to drink wine you don’t have to think too much about.

If you want to check out the 2011 vintage the day it arrives, Paris in Town Le Bistro (11701 Lake Victoria Gardens Ave., 561/622-1616)  in Palm Beach Gardens is offering a three course, prix fixe dinner featuring Nouveau Beaujolais on Thursday, Nov. 17.

For $36.95 per person you can choose between first courses of carrot-ginger soup, green salad with goat cheese crouton or coquilles St. Jacques; second courses of pork tenderloin in mustard sauce, pot au feu, sole meuniere or filet mignon with blue cheese sauce; desserts of chocolate mousse, crème caramel or bread pudding.

Oh, and a glass of Nouveau Beaujolais. Cheers!
