Boca magazine was sorry to learn that Boca Raton developer Richard “Dick” Siemens died on Dec. 17 at the age of 82.
Siemens arguably helped usher in a new chapter for Boca Raton, building significant communities like Polo Club Boca Raton, Gleneagles Country Club and Harbour’s Edge. He is likely best known for donating land for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s west Boca Raton campus., and helping develop the Richard and Carole Siemens Jewish Campus, as it is now known.
He was dedicated to more than physically changing the landscape of his community; he also worked tirelessly on building its health and humanity by his involvement with Drug Abuse Foundation, for which he helped build its Siemens-Evert Campus in Delray Beach.
His Siemens Group is currently building the 139-unit Akoya condominium at Boca West Country Club, which is expected to open this fall.
A public memorial service for Siemens will be held Jan. 9 at Temple Beth El of Boca Raton. He’s survived by his wife Carole, his four children Alan Siemens, Scott Siemens (Linda), Robert Siemens (Lisa) and Rebecca Spooner (Jim), and their grandchildren Justin, Jared, Sarah, Max, Daniel, Samuel, Joseph, Jake and Mike.
Boca Raton has lost a visionary developer and a great philanthropist, and we send our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Siemen’s s family and friends.
