Only days after celeb chef Johnny Vinczencz’s casual American bistro Smith & Jones made like a fish and went belly up, word came that the Fort Lauderdale space will be taken over later this year by Rocco’s Tacos.
At a time when restaurant success stories are about as rare as July snowstorms in Boca Raton, Rocco’s is certainly one. From the original Clematis Street eatery, known for its wild -n- wacky weekend nights, jam-packed and bustling bar scene, and killer guacamole made tableside, partners Rocco Mangel and local dining mavens Big Time Restaurant Group last year opened a second Rocco’s at the Shops at Boca Center. The Fort Lauderdale Rocco’s, at 1313 Las Olas Blvd., will be their third eatery.
Hey, maybe tacos are the new black. . .
