You can certainly tell it’s fall in South Florida—temperatures are down all the way to the mid 80s, and the AC even shuts off for a few minutes during the day.
Or maybe a better indicator is the autumn menu at Seasons 52 in Boca (3200 NW Executive Center Dr., 561/998-9952), Palm Beach Gardens (11611 Ellison Wilson Rd., 561/625-5852) and beyond.
Coming out of my old California buddy Cliff Pleau’s corporate kitchen are newbies like grill portobello and five-cheese flatbread, grilled quail with mashed sweet potatoes and bourbon-chili glaze, and pumpkin pie “mini indulgence” with gingersnap crust.
There’s also a pair of new cocktails—the “skinny” raspberry chocolatini and a superfruit martini with blueberry and pomegranate and Acai berry spirits. Or check out a pair of featured wines—the 2007 Mauritson Cabernet Sauvignon and always excellent Ramey Russian River Chardonnay, vintage 2008.
And don’t forget to hunt through your closet for your winter flipflops.
