The old Jetsetter Lounge in Lake Worth, one of my favorite places to hang (and scarf up pulled pork nachos) during its too-brief life, is now Mara(1132 N. Dixie Hwy., 561/523-7910). Proprietor Richard Addicott offers an eclectic, World Cuisine sort of menu, heavy on the catering and events.
At Bogart’s (3200 Airport Rd., 561/544-3044) atop the Cinemark 20 movie theater in Boca Raton, owner Burt Rapoport is unveiling SLAM, a four-table pingpong venue where diners, movie-goers and anyone else, for that matter, can get their competitive juices flowing and release some of the stress from driving in Boca traffic. It will be open daily and offer a roster of specialty cocktails and munchies from the restaurant.
And speaking of Rapoport restaurants, waterfront Deck 84(840 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, 561/665-8484) has come up with a bunch of summer specials. Monday features all still wines at half their regular bottle price, Tuesdays feature two tacos and a Padron frozen margarita for $12. Weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. the restaurant offers 10 luncheon entrée for $10, including beverage, then from 3 to 7 p.m. is happy hour with half-price drinks at the bar.
