As the school year draws to a close, it’s time to honor Boca’s 2018 Teacher of The Year, an honor that began in 1987 thanks to Sunrise Rotarian and current Palm Beach County School Board member Frank Barbieri.

The first teachers honored were four teachers from Spanish River High School, Loggers Run Middle School and Coral Sunset and Whispering Pines Elementary schools. In the years since then, more than 500 teachers have been awarded this prestigious honor throughout greater Boca Raton.

This is the news release on the event, coming up Thursday, April 26 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Office Depot headquarters in Boca Raton:

“Each year the Rotary Club of Boca Raton Sunrise has recognized outstanding teachers from the current 22 public schools in the greater Boca Raton area. The annual banquet attracts more than 200 guests who are treated to an exciting evening of cocktails, live music, honor guards, and a gourmet dinner. Each of the 22 teachers being honored are presented with awards, a video recap of their accomplishments and a keynote speaker to close out the evening.”

Sponsorships on many levels are available and individual tickets are $75 for sale here. For more information, contact events chairman Tim Sharp at 561/213-1016 or eventchair@rotarysunriseteacheroftheyear.com
