You may be safely dining this Thanksgiving, but that probably means fewer faces around the table. It means your aunt, who always showed up with the perfect bottle of wine, won’t be doing that in 2020. And that means you’ll have to figure out a wine pairing for your holiday meal on your own. Take a deep breath.
We’ve got this.
Not only will we give you suggestions for various meal combos, but you don’t have to set foot in a store to have the bottles show up in time for dinner.
Lucky for us, ABC Fine Wines & Spirits, Florida’s largest family-owned and operated alcohol retailer (in business since 1936!) has put together a selection to please all kinds of sippers. Here are their suggestions:
To start the (smaller) gathering, try La Bella Prosecco, a dry sparkling wine that goes well with things like cheeses, caviar, or just for a toast to 2021!
For drinking with turkey, chicken or ham, try the Domaine Vetriccie Corse Rosé, which is also a dry rosé. This one promises to pair well with your main dish in these areas. If you’re serving turkey, ham or beef, you can pair those with a burgundy or a chateauneuf du pape. A pinot noir is the most frequently suggested wine for holiday meals, because it pairs with all kinds of dishes, including vegetables. For white wine drinkers, the Octopoda Chardonnay from Russian River in Sonoma, Calif., pairs well with fish, lobster, clams or shrimp.
For dessert or an after-dinner digestif, try Croft Reserve Tawny Porto, which is sweet and satisfying with chocolate, cheese or your favorite pie.
As for getting the bottles to your house, ABC recently announced a statewide program with FedEx for delivery of their products. Available only with online ordering, the service is $9.99 for delivery within a 5-mile radius of the stores, with no additional fees or tipping.
