It’s not often you’ll find Allen Susser (Taste Gastropub, Chef Allen’s), Oliver Saucy (Cafe Maxx), Carlos Fernandez (Hi-Life Cafe) and Andy Trousdale (Le Bistro) firing up their stoves at the same place.
But come Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Florida Builder Appliances in Pompano Beach, they’ll be doing just that to benefit Feeding South Florida, a non-profit agency that supplies food to a multitude of charities feeding the hungry in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
“The Boys of Summer” will each demonstrate preparation of one of their favorite dishes, which will be paired with wines from Starmont and Merryvale wineries and then served to everyone in attendance.
On the menu are garlicky guava shrimp with a macadamia nut saffron rice from Allen Susser, Asian barbecue pulled pork sliders in sweet dough sesame buns from Oliver Saucy, Southwest pasta Bolognese from Carlos Fernandez and salmon margarita from Andy Trousdale. Wine pairings include the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc and 2008 Chardonnay from Starmont and the 2008 Carneros Pinot Noir and 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Merryvale.
Tickets cost $20 each and can be obtained by going to feedingsouthflorida.org or calling 954-977-6407. Florida Builder Appliances is located at 1742 W. Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach, 954-956-7051.
