George Bolge retired from the Boca Raton Museum of Art in 2011 after 16 years as its executive director, during which time he more than tripled its membership and relocated the institution to Mizner Park in 2001. Less than a year after his retirement, he was appointed CEO of the Museum of Florida Art, a DeLand cornerstone created to promote and showcase artists from the Sunshine State.
Youth is Served
Lynn University’s Jelena Lovric started her own fashion company called LoveRich. The spring/summer collection debuted at Boca Raton’s Blue Martini this February. Lovric’s feminine collection contained sweet pastels and the popular peplum silhouette, inspired by the Parisian countryside.
New Life at The Breakers
The new HMF at The Breakers is a welcome surprise: a very stylish retro cocktail lounge with a sophisticated clubby feel that is warm but not stuffy. Servers wear in uniforms reminiscent of the 40s and 50s, and there are even “cigarette girls” offering aperitifs. Named for Palm Beach railroad and oil tycoon Henry Morrison Flagler, whose descendents continue to operate The Breakers, the lounge replaces the former Tapestry Bar and L’Escalier restaurant with a nostalgic and glamorous room that is becoming a hot spot for the after-ball and after-dinner crowd, as well as the early cocktail hour types. Translated: people in Palm Beach are staying up after 10:30 p.m.
What was your favorite event in Boca this past year?
