The annual Soroptimist International of Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach Women of Distinction Breakfast is right around the corner—Boca’s first big fall event and one for which Margaret Mary Shuff and I will act as honorary chairs.

Why, you say?

Because Helen Babione asked us to and I have never in 20 some years said no to Helen. In fact, Helen pretty much embodies what is best about the women of Soroptimist: effective, dedicated to helping those in need and completely unaffected. Many of these women are unsung heroes in our community—but they get the job done and they are true life-changers. Help us honor them at this event, which is Oct. 1, at Boca West Country Club (20583 Boca West Drive, Boca Raton) from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

The honored nominees are women who have given back to the community in various ways: professionally, through volunteerism, education, non-profits, etc. There will be a proclamation given by Mayor Susan Haynie.  This year’s Life-Time Achievement Recipient is Jan Dymtrow.

Soroptimist means “best for women” and this very special breakfast embodies just that.

For more information, call Judith Hinsch at 561/859-1883 or Deborah Bacarella at 561/239-2300. Tickets are $55, and tables are available.

We will see you there!
