The Queen is dead. Long live Zinger’s.

Okay, so maybe that’s not how the old saying goes. But it does get the point across. When Pastrami Queen opened in West Boca, transplanted New Yorkers and local deli fanatics raved about its killer pastrami and other Big Apple deli favorites.

The Queen, however, went belly up, apparently the result of some sort of family issues with the Zinger family who owned the place. But Queen partner Gary Zinger didn’t give up. Instead, he redid the same space just off Palmetto Park Road, giving it a sleeker, more modern look that’s definitely not your grandaddy’s deli, while keeping that killer pastrami, ginormous chocolate cake and everything else the old Queen was famous for.

Among the other attributes of the new Zinger’s Delicatessen (7132 Beracasa Way, 561/826-7323): house-made bread baked daily; private label pastrami, corned beef and brisket; potato latke tater tots and 20-ingredient veggie burger. And all the essential deli stuff too.

It’s good to be. . . er, Zinger’s.
