Congratulations to Clayton Carnes for number of things in 2016. He opened his own restaurant last week, Cholo Soy Cocina, in West Palm Beach (3715 S. Dixie Highway), and he’s the 2016 Champion of the Chef vs Chef competition, beating 15 fellow chefs in a weekly throwdown contest.
But the fun isn’t over yet. He now vies for the Grand Champion title, taking on the 2015 winner, James Strine (representing Café Boulud from 2015, even though Strine now works at Grato). The event starts at 9 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Max’s Harvest (169 NE 2nd Ave., Delray Beach; 561/381-9970). It has a $5 cover charge that benefits the Milagro Center. Be sure to see this contest between two chefs with amazing skills. And grab some great grub at Max’s Harvest while you’re at it!
Summer specials go through October at Eau Palm Beach
Since it still feels like summer, Eau Palm Beach (100 S. Ocean Blvd., Manalapan; 561/533-6000) is extending its summer prix-fixe meals through October. Maybe it will cool off after that!
Until Oct. 31, you can live with a bit o’ the high life at Temple Orange Mediterranean Bistro on Sundays from noon-2:30 p.m. This is the brunch special, for $42 per person ($18 buys you bottomless glasses of Veuve Clicquot’s champagne), and $16 for ages 4-12. Or try a three-course lunch for $28, or three-course dinner for $55.
You can sit oceanside at Breeze Ocean Kitchen (pictured) with a three-course prix-fixe menu for $28. This is why we live in South Florida…
