For seven summers, diners on Deck 84’s dock have eaten and toasted the waterway restaurant’s live entertainment despite temps that could sear your tuna without benefit of a stove.

But no more—Deck 84 is trying something new and cool, merging air-conditioning with an outside deck!

Who needs water mist? Owner Burt Rapoport installed a 20-ton AC unit with a tubing system that layers cool air over dining tables and the bar area. Your ice cubes will last a bit longer, as will your chilling-out vibe.

Along with the AC comes summer specials here. Kids under 12 eat free Monday through Thursday with any adult entrée for lunch or dinner. Wine Wednesday means half-off any bottle of vino with an entrée. An extended happy hour goes Monday through Friday with half-price beer, wine and spirits from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Taco Tuesdays are still around, starting at 5 p.m., where you can order three tacos for $16. The summer cocktail menu will launch soon with a mojito section and a skinny cocktail section. Pull up a stool, chill out and cool down. 840 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach; 561/665-8484; deck84.com
