Whether you like to run or ride a bicycle, you can do your part this holiday season to make sure local kids in need have access to donated, new bikes and running shoes.

The Treads and Trainers for Charity event, by Fleet Feet Sports Delray Beach and Doghouse Performance Cycling Center, is Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Runners should report to Fleet Feet Sports at 1705 South Federal Hwy., Delray Beach. Cyclists would go to Doghouse Performance Cycling Center at 7815 NW Beacon Square Blvd., Boca Raton.

The event involves individuals or teams of people running or riding during the 12-hour event, for the cause. Fleet Feet has the treadmill and Doghouse has the Computrainer, which is a trainer connected to a computer and TV screen. Cyclists should bring their bikes. If you don’t have one, however, Doghouse has a few on hand.

Each person or team has the goal of raising or donating at least $100 every hour. Team members can participate in one-hour increments or choose to run or bike longer.

The money raised, according to the event’s webpage, goes to buy new bikes and new shoes for children this holiday season.

If you don’t want to ride or run, 10 percent of what you buy in Fleet Feet Sports Delray Beach the day of the event will be donated to the cause.
