In case you need a reason to spice up your weekend with oysters and wine (and you shouldn’t need a reason, but…), it’s National Oysters on the Half Shell Day on March 31.

That’s not to be confused with National Oyster Day on Aug. 5. For some reason (ka-ching!), the oyster industry thought it needed two days to fête their mollusks.

Some local restaurants have met the challenge with specials:

  • City Oyster: Raise a toast! With the purchase of a dozen oysters, you’ll get a free glass of Champagne. 213 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach; 561/272-0220; cityoysterdelray.com
  • Spoto’s Oyster Bar: On March 31, celebrate with a half-dozen bluepoint oysters for $11.70 (or $1.95 each). Clams will get their spotlight, too, with $1.25 each or $7.50 for a half-dozen. 4560 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens; 561/776-9448; spotos.com
  • PB Catch: For March 31, you can eat two-for-one oysters all night. 251 Sunrise Ave., Palm Beach; 561/665-5558; pbcatch.com

And we’re still waiting for the other half shell to fall…

Have brunch and move to the jazz at Mizner Park

Just a reminder that the season is winding down, so that means the last Sunday Jazz Brunch in Mizner Park is March 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. With music and food and fun and probably a lot of sun. At the Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real, Boca Raton.
