Nisi restaurant latest venture for Wahler, Tsavos team

Recently, we told you about an interesting concept called Born Foody, a food delivery service aimed at affordable, healthful meal delivery. Well, the two guys who started that this month are keeping mighty busy, and last week, they opened a restaurant together.

Nisi has a Mediterranean menu “with Asian touches,” at 3330 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, formerly the space for the Thasos Greek venue. Chef/owner Joshua Wahler teams with Andy Tsavos for this venture. They also work together at Miami Beach’s Estiatorio Milos, a Greek restaurant. Wahler’s name may be familiar; he was a “Hell’s Kitchen” contestant and worked at Miami’s Nobu, among other restaurants.

Dishes will include marinated anchovies crostini, jumbo lump crab cake, Prince Edward Island mussels with tarragon sauce, and feta sticks wrapped in phyllo and drizzled with honey and sesame seeds. Their cocktail offerings use ingredients like lavender, thyme and chamomile.

Miami Spice brings NY pop-up Bar Primi to The Dutch

While the great prix-fixe prices of Miami Spice (see the specials here) are enough reason to venture out and try all those places you’ve been meaning to hit, here’s another reason. For all of September, celeb Chef Andrew Carmellini of the chic New York pasta bar, Bar Primi, will bring those dishes to Miami Beach’s The Dutch (2201 Collins Ave.; 305/938-3111) with a pop-up restaurant. The Big Apple joins The Dutch for a month.

In NY, Bar Primi focuses solely on primi piatti, the pasta course (and my fave!), with homemade pasta and family recipes from Carmellini and chef/partner Sal Lamboglia (pictured). Here’s a chance to taste those dishes, as Lamboglia and The Dutch’s Chef de Cuisine Adonay Tafur partner with new menu items as part of the Miami Spice event.
